ABOUT MRS. BACON

Hi!  I am Mrs. Bacon and I am the 3rd grade teacher at St. Mary in Dell Rapids.  I grew up on a farm 3 miles north of Dell Rapids.  My brothers and I attended St. Mary Catholic Schools.  I graduated high school in 2002 and then traveled to Vermillion and earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of South Dakota in December of 2005.  On July 23, 2010 I married Blaine Bacon and we live in Dell Rapids.  Blaine is the High School/Middle School Science teacher at St. Mary.  We live in Dell Rapids.  On November 27, 2011 my family of 2 grew to 3!  Blaine & I welcomed our first child, Maddison Jo.  It has been fun watching her grow!  My father farms on our family farm.  He plants corn & soybeans, along with raising cattle.  My mother is a nurse at the Dell Rapids Hospital.  I have 2 younger brothers.  Colby lives in Kimball with his wife, Adria, and farms for his father-in-law.  My youngest brother, Kirby, is working on his Masters at USD.  Blaine's parents, Brad & Beth, live in Reliance, SD.  His sister, Dani, is a sophomore at USF.  We are excited to have her living so close! His brother Brandon also lives in Reliance with his wife Abby, and our godson, Jack and their daughter, Kate.

I started my teacher career in the fall of 2006 at St. Mary.  This is currently my 7th year teaching 3rd grade.  I believe God directed me back home for a reason & I absolutely love being back at St. Mary.  The classroom I currently teach in was my 5th grade classroom.  It is fun to now be coworkers with some of my elementary teachers.  Mrs. Anderson, our current 4th grade teacher, was my 6th grade teacher & Mrs. Schultz, our current 5th grade teacher, was my 4th grade teacher.  Along with teaching, I am also the head competitive cheer coach, assistant track coach, sideline cheerleading advisor.  I also am the co-student council advisor for the high school & middle school.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family.  I love all sports!  Blaine & I are HUGE Minnesota Twins fans!  I also enjoy scrap booking and reading a good book!
